AMO Certificate – A “Passport” Affirming Standardized Technical Capability

The AMO approval certificate is an important document issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, authorizing SPA to carry out aircraft repair and maintenance activities within the scope of its approved ratings. To obtain this certification, Sun PhuQuoc Airways underwent a rigorous assessment process and fully met stringent standards covering technical management systems, facilities, maintenance procedures, and—most importantly—a highly qualified workforce. Holding AMO status demonstrates the airline’s commitment to enhancing its technical credibility with aircraft lessors and the international aviation community.

A Solid Foundation for a “Young” Fleet

Achieving AMO approval at this stage is of strategic importance to SPA. In less than six months—from receiving its first aircraft on August 10, 2025 to February 2026—the airline expanded its fleet from zero to nine owned aircraft, a rare pace for a newly launched carrier. Notably, SPA operates five newly manufactured A321NX (A321neo ACF) aircraft, making it proud to possess one of the youngest fleets in the industry and to have early established a safe and reliable technical foundation.

Self-sufficient maintenance capability (AMO) enables the airline to proactively care for modern aircraft types, ensuring consistently high fleet availability. This is the “key” helping SPA maintain strong on-time performance (OTP) and steadily increase flight frequencies. In December, the airline achieved an OTP of 93.5%, officially leading the domestic aviation industry—an exceptionally high figure compared to the industry-wide average OTP of just 70.7%, especially during the year-end peak season.

Ready for an Expanding International Network

In-house maintenance capability is also the final piece empowering SPA to confidently expand internationally. With full control over technical processes, the airline is ready to roll out an ambitious network expansion plan. From March 29, 2026, SPA will operate its first international route from Taipei to Phu Quoc. From Q2 2026, the airline will further connect Phu Quoc with key international destinations such as Taiwan (Kaohsiung), South Korea (Seoul and Busan), Thailand (Bangkok), Singapore, Hong Kong, and India (Mumbai and New Delhi).

Proactive maintenance optimizes operating costs and minimizes aircraft-on-ground (AOG) time, thereby ensuring stable schedules for future long-haul operations.

Mr. Pham Dang Thanh, Deputy CEO in charge of Maintenance Engineering at Sun PhuQuoc Airways, emphasized: “Being granted the AMO approval certificate is a significant milestone, affirming Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ absolute compliance with aviation safety requirements. We have not only rapidly increased the size of our fleet but also built a solid technical foundation. On this basis, the airline will continue to expand its maintenance ratings, ensuring absolute safety for passengers on all upcoming domestic and international journeys.”

In less than five months, Sun PhuQuoc Airways has consecutively obtained key certifications and approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, including the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) with expanded scope covering international routes in Asia and the Middle East, the Approved Training Organization (ATO) certificate, and the Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) certificate. This demonstrates SPA’s synchronized, methodical, and in-depth development—not only in legal compliance but also in organizational capability, human resource quality, governance systems, training, and technical maintenance.

As a young airline, SPA’s proactive and simultaneous establishment of the core pillars of a full-service airline within a short period clearly reflects its execution capability, system mastery, and long-term development vision.

In the next phase, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will continue to proactively invest in infrastructure, facilities, and technical systems, gradually expanding its AMO ratings to align with the growth trajectory of its fleet and route network.
