Phu Quoc Ranks Among Asia’s Lowest-Cost Flight Destinations in 2026

According to Skyscanner, the ranking is based on data from economy-class round-trip flight searches and bookings in 2025, aggregated from millions of monthly visits across the platform’s global system. Phu Quoc placed fourth among the top 10 Asian destinations with the most affordable airfares, alongside well-known beach destinations in the region such as Phuket (Thailand), Manila (the Philippines) and Denpasar (Indonesia). Phu Quoc’s inclusion in the list highlights the island’s improving air connectivity, with flight costs that remain accessible to both international and domestic travelers.

Beyond its competitive airfare costs, Phu Quoc is also among the destinations experiencing strong growth in travel demand. In Skyscanner’s Trending Destinations 2026 report, Phu Quoc ranked second globally in flight search growth, recording an increase of up to 184% year on year. Skyscanner noted that the island is well suited for beach holidays thanks to its natural scenery, long stretches of coastline, resort offerings and a relatively tranquil pace of life.

Experts believe these results reflect the positive impact of Vietnam’s 30-day visa exemption policy for international visitors to Phu Quoc, which has enhanced the destination’s competitiveness compared with other locations in the region. At the same time, the expansion and increase of domestic and international air routes to the island have helped reduce access costs while encouraging more international travelers to choose Phu Quoc for longer stays. In 2025, Phu Quoc welcomed approximately 8.3 million visitors, exceeding its annual target by more than 18%. Of this total, international arrivals reached nearly 1.9 million, almost double the figure recorded in the same period a year earlier. The upward trend continued into the early months of 2026, with the number of international flights to Phu Quoc International Airport rising by around 40% year on year, indicating sustained demand for air travel to the island. Alongside its airfare advantage, Phu Quoc has continued to develop a more comprehensive tourism ecosystem, introducing new products and experiences ranging from iconic landmarks and an over-sea cable car to entertainment programs and nightly performances for visitors. These factors have helped strengthen Phu Quoc’s position as an attractive, easily accessible beach destination suitable for multiple visitor segments, particularly at a time when travelers are placing greater emphasis on transportation costs when choosing destinations for 2026.
